Proposal

Greenwich Community College proposal.

Our initial concept

· Space age themed throughout the two rooms
· 1930’s-1970’s style with Italian futurism as an influence.
· The theme will be hugely based around Pierre Cardins work as an influence.

There are two fashion rooms with about 30 students between the two rooms. One of the rooms will have tables, furniture, machines and storage. The other room will be a “quiet” room with comfortable furniture as well as storage. The theme between the two rooms shall be the same, this will be space age. We will be researching into Italian futurism of the late 1930’s and 1970’s science fiction.

Architecture Proposal initial conceptual ideas.

Our proposal is to have two different spaces. One which will be a workshop for the fashion department, which will contain machines and flexible furniture. For example pattern cutting, sewing machines, etc. We suggest storage and furniture, that is combined together as one. Also, we suggest that the rooms have to have glass facardes, for natural lighting. Furthermore, we suggest extension of the room to the courtyard, because there is a wasted space outside. The quiet room area will contain flexible furniture for sitting and reading and also it can be used as a lecture room and place for meetings. Lastly, in this quiet room we can create a smaller space that can be a space for computing/research room.

Graphic Design initial conceptual ideas

As graphic designers we shall be aiding the Greenwich college fashion department with the development and progression of their studios. We shall be working on signage and furniture for the fashion department. With regards to this factor we shall be considering disability i.e. blind people and people in wheelchairs. Furniture will be comfortable and durable, in both rooms; we are also considering different high adjustments and storage within these pieces of furniture.

We will have a few meetings with the clients to discuss our progression with the project. We will organise a blog for the students to view our development process.
